I have become more confident than ever before: Rani Mukherjee

RaniMukherjee[1]2

The only thing that can break me is when my audiences don’t want to see me anymore,” says Rani Mukherjee, who has had a long innings in the industry. The actress is currently on a high after the success of her latest film No One Killed Jessica, where the critics and audiences have applauded her performance.

The doe-eyed actress looks back on her journey and says, “I have become more confident than ever before. When I entered the industry years ago, I was quite naive and innocent. Over the years, I have changed according to the demands of life and have become much smarter now. I have learnt not to react to certain things that are being said about me,” says Rani, who was almost written off by critics after the debacle of Dil Bole Hadippa.

The actress says that she is now looking forward to doing better work. “For me, it’s a challenge and I am working hard. It’s not that I was not offered roles, but I have to scrutinise a script before taking it up because of my image and respectability. My fans will always expect good work out of me. It’s a constant reaction I keep getting from my fans. It’s for them to decide whether to make me a star or not,” she says.

Rani rocks in No One Killed Jessica

rani1

No One Killed Jessica review and box office report, Rani rules. No One Killed Jessica is the talk of the town. The film is based on the life story of model Jessica Lal who was killed by a son of a powerful man. The film has many twists and turns.

The producer has highlighted the problem faced by Jessica’s family members, including her sister Sabrina Lall. She single-handedly mounted pressure on the government and judiciary to do justice. Long at last justice was delivered and her killer is behind the bars.

The film shows how things were tempered at the scene of crime. But there was such a media and public pressure that justice was delivered.

Initially efforts were made to weaken the case. The bullets fired from a “22 bore Italian Baretta” at the scene of crime was mysteriously swapped in the forensic lab. In the film the cop is shown frustrated. However, he took home a bribe of Rs 70 lakh. He was shown doing so merely not to hurt the murder-accused at the time of interrogation.

The cop reasons: “Sab koi khaata hai (Everybody eats). Kisliye, mein fark hai (For what, is the point).” This only depicts the fact that how Indians are tolerant toward corruption at large. It has become part of Indian society.

Corruption is so entrenched in society that it is no more look down at. As a young girl (Vidya Balan who plays the role of Sabrina Lal is shown fighting the battle herself. Interestingly, she got support from the media and the public.

My career is already made, Nobody can make or break my career:Rani Mukerjee.

rani2

She maybe hurt following talk about the end of her career, but Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee says such predictions will not break her.

"I feel bad when people say that Rani Mukerjee is finished. My career is already made. Nobody can make or break my career," the actress says.

"It is my fans who decided to make me a star. The only thing that will break me is when the love of my audience won’t be there with me and the fact that they don’t want to see me in films," she adds.

The 32-year-old Bengali beauty says being an actor she has the "huge responsibility" to entertain the audience with her every film.

"As they (audience) love me so much the least I can do for them is to do a role that is drastically different from my previous film. I want my audience to see a new and different Rani all the time. In my last film (Dil Bole Haddipa) I was a Sardar boy and in No One Killed Jessica I am a journalist," she says.

Rani, who craves for exciting and different roles, says actors are beggars who wait for good scripts.

"Every year I want to come with two-three films. I hope I get offers for roles that are exciting enough like the one in No One Killed Jessica or the one that I am doing in Aamir’s film," she says.

Directed by Rajkumar Gupta, the No One killed Jessica is based on the murder case of model Jessica Lal who was shot dead in 1999 by Manu Sharma, son of a Haryana politician, in a Delhi night club.

The film, which releases on January 7, also features Vidya Balan as Jessica’s sister Sabrina, who fought to get justice for her sister.

Rani Mukerji’s No One Killed Jessica gets A Certificate

rani-at-fm-wallpaper[1]1

Rani Mukerji and Vidya Balan-starrer "No One Killed Jessica" has been passed by the Censor Board with an A certificate and without any cuts.

Only the promo of the song "Aali Re... Saali Re" from the film has seen two changes - the word ’kameeni’ has been beeped out and the scene in which Rani shows her middle finger has been blurred. Vikas Behl of UTV said, "The power of people and the relentless effort of the media needed to be brought to the audience in the right light, and hats off to the CBFC for keeping that above all else while judging the movie."

I don't understand why there is so much fascination about my marriage in Media: Rani Mukherjee

rani-mukherjee[1]1

Brushing aside rumours of her marriage in the near time, Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee, who is unable to understand the fascination of the media with the subject, says she is not tying the knot anytime soon.

"I don’t understand why there is so much fascination about my marriage. I am not tying the knot anytime soon. When I get married I will inform you all. I will make a proper announcement when such a thing comes up," the actress said.

The latest buzz sweeping in the B-town is that the Bengali actress is set to exchange wedding rings with director Aditya Chopra in February next year.

"I have been married far too many times. In media, the news of my marriage has been making rounds since quite a long time. The worst part is they don’t invite me for my wedding," the 32-year-old actress said.
Rani is all geared up for her up-coming film, No One Killed Jessica, in which she essays the role of a journalist.

Directed by Rajkumar Gupta, No One Killed Jessica is based on the murder trial of model Jessica Lall, who was shot dead in 1999 by Manu Sharma, son of a Haryana politician, in a Delhi night club.

The film also features Vidya Balan as Jessica’s sister Sabrina, who fought tooth and nail to get justice for her sister.
The film will hit cinema houses on January 7 next year.

Rani Mukerji’s “No One Killed Jessica” gets A certificate.

ranimuzgz[1]1

Rani Mukerji’s character mouths expletives non-stop in the much talked-about film “No One Killed Jessica”. Director Rajkumar Gupta admits that the actress’ character is “very brutal and graphic in her speech” but he is not so worried about the film getting A-certificate from the censor board.

“We voluntarily beeped out Rani’s expletive in the trailer because it was to be screened on the home viewing medium. But now when we submit the film for censorship, we will go with the entire language content intact, hoping the censor board would see the context and not just the hard-hitting nature of the language,” said Gupta.“We are hoping for a UA (parental guidance) certificate. But even if we get an Adults certificate, we’re okay with it,” he added.

The film is based on model Jessica Lall’s murder case. In the film Vidya Balan will be seen as Jessica’s sister Sabrina who fought tooth and nail to get justice for her sister. Rani plays a journalist.
According to sources, Rani’s character’s flow of profanities is so non-stop that if the censor board decided to beep her gaalis her dialogue soundtrack would have more beeps than words.
Laughs and protests Gupta, saying: “It’ not that bad, really. You are making it sound like a non-stop abuse binge. My film is not that.”

“But yes, Rani’s character is very brutal and graphic in her speech. I don’t know if, as you say, Rani is the same way in real life. I didn’t know her before I shot with her. But she was thoroughly professional in mouthing squirmy words.”
While Rani is said to be gung-ho about the language, Vidya Balan is apparently dreading how the dialogues would sound in a pindrop-silent theatre with dolby sound.

“Let’s just say, both Rani and Vidya said what they had to. They were thorough professionals,” said Gupta.
Another area of discomfort for the film would be the legal ramifications of showing real-life people, particularly the hostile witnesses in the murder case.Apparently some of the key witnesses are already inquiring about the content and getting ready for legal action.

“We’re ready for any eventuality. I made the film the way I wanted to as a mix of realism and cinematic entertainment. ‘No One Killed Jessica’ is not a documentary on the Jessica Lall case. But it is about her sister’s fight for justice. And if the real-life characters recognise themselves, they are welcome to react how they want.”
In fact, former top cop Amodh Kanth has urged the Indian censor board to ensure that only the facts relating to the Jessica Lall murder case are presented in “No One Killed Jessica”

Rani Mukherjee Biography

The Bong beauty Rani Mukherjee was born on 21st March 1978. Being the daughter of the famous director Ram Mukherjee and the cousin of one of the greatest actresses Kajol, the road ahead for Rani Mukherjee has been clear. She did a small cameo role in her father’s Bengali film “Biyer Phool” in 1992 at a very young age of 14.

She made her Bollywood debut when Salim Akthar came up with “Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat’ in 1996. The film bombed at the box office and Rani’s career took a back seat with her devoting her attention back to completing her studies. She was back with a bang with “Ghulam” in 1998 where she starred opposite to Aamir Khan. Thought the film was very successful at the box office a few critics raised some questions on her acting skills and commented on her hoarse voice. Rani’s response was her brilliant performance in Karan Johar’s “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ where she played the hot and sexy Tina and won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award.

Again in 1998 she gave another brilliant performace in “Mehndi”. After a few flops like Hello Brother, Baadal, Bichhoo she once again came into the limelight with her controversial performance in “Hey Ram” (2000). The film itself was a centre of discussion with its controversial subject matter and her steamy kiss scene with Kamal Hasan just added spice to the discussion. The film though was India’s official entry for the Oscars.

Between 2000 and 2002 she did quite a few films like Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, Nayak, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, Mujhse Dosti Karoge etc. Some of them were commercially successful but none were huge box office hits. Her next big hit was “Saathiya” in 2002. She won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance
and was nominated for Filmfare Best Actress Award for her role in that film. The film was also screened at the Casablanca Film Festival.

Again her career went through a quiet phase before the release of Yuva in 2004. The film was a huge box office hit and her role also won critically acclaimed. This was just the beginning, Rani’s career has been on a rise ever since. Yuva was followed by “Hum Tum” for which she won the Filmfare Best Actress Award and “Veer Zaara” which was another box office hit.

But the world had yet to see the best Rani had to offer which came with the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Black” where her role as Michelle won her appreciation, fame and recognition all round. She won both the Filmfare Best Actress Award and the Critics Award that year for this role. The film was screened at the Casablanca Film Festival and The International Film Festival of India.

Black was followed by other hits like Bunty Aur Babli, Paheli and Mangal Panday The Rising in 2005. In 2006 Rani once again topped the charts with “Kabhi Alvida Na kehna” and Baabul. The most recent of Rani’s releases has been “Tara Rum Pum” where she stars next to Saif Ali Khan.

With Rani’s career at its peak Rani has a long list of movies queued up for release next in line being “Laaga Chunari Mein Daag” followed by “Saawariya”. With Rani giving one hit performance after the other one gets a feeling that this Bong beauty is just getting started and has a great career ahead of her!
